Client:

U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC), Natick, Massachusetts.

Project Overview:

This project covers the removal, replacement, and enhancement of the Main Access Control Point (ACP) Monument Sign at Monument Gate, NSSC.
The work includes demolition of the existing monument sign, fabrication and installation of a new aluminum monument sign with Army-compliant branding, integration of LED lighting, and xeriscape landscaping. The sign will meet Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 3-120-01), the Buy American Act, OSHA standards, and other applicable codes.
Structural engineering, electrical trenching, and landscape design are incorporated to ensure durability, visibility, and compliance with Army identity standards. The project performance period is 90 working days after NTP.

Key Scope Highlights:

  • Design & Submittals:

    • Shop drawings with scaled elevations, logo layouts, and cross-sections.

    • 17” x 24” material/finish board for review by DPW Architect.

  • Engineering:

    • Foundation and supports engineered for wind and climate loads.

    • Certified by a licensed Massachusetts structural engineer.

  • Site Preparation & Foundation:

    • Demolition of existing sign and landscaping.

    • Construction of masonry retaining wall and reinforced concrete slab.

  • Fabrication & Installation:

    • New aluminum monument sign (10’ high × 12’ wide) with stone base.

    • Aluminum letterforms, Army PMS 123 accent color, dark bronze background.

    • Polyurethane finish for durability.

  • Electrical & Landscaping:

    • LED fixtures (X17XFU60 or equal) for night illumination.

    • Conduit/wiring from Guard Shack (Building 39) to sign, with timer/switch.

    • Weed barrier and river rock xeriscaping for long-term low-maintenance finish.

  • Closeout Deliverables:

    • As-built drawings, product warranties, maintenance recommendations.
