PVC: Thermoplastic Polyvinyl Chloride

PVC or vinyl roofing membranes are made with a base resin, plasticizers, and UV stabilizers, as well as fiberglass mats for reinforcement. This type of roof has been popular for more than 50 years and remains an excellent choice for commercial low-slope and flat roofs that require energy efficiency and sustainability.

Highly Versatile & Effective

PVC roofing has a very long service life and can be recycled at the end by heating and re-forming it to create new roofing membranes. When combined with the lower manufacturing and shipping impacts, PVC is one of the most environmentally friendly roofing materials on the market today.
PVC roofing membranes' excellent fire ratings, resistance to UV light degradation, and strength in the face of any weather extreme make this material a commercial roofing industry superstar.
PVC roofing membranes far exceed the minimum ASTM requirements for strength because they are manufactured with a specific focus on strength and durability. The ASTM requires roofing membranes to have a minimum breaking strength of 200 lbs per square inch, though PVC membranes typically exceed 350 lbs per square inch.

Performance & Sustainability

Because of its high solar reflectance and thermal emittance values, PVC is an excellent choice for cool roofs.
A PVC roof's reflective surface, which typically reflects at least 80% of the sun's UV rays, can contribute significantly to reducing building cooling loads by keeping the building at a more stable, cooler temperature, resulting in a decrease in overall energy consumption.
Lower energy bills, a reduction in the building's contribution to the urban heat island effect, and a smaller carbon footprint are among the benefits.

Why choose PVC?

DURABILITY: The material's ability to withstand a wide range of stressors, including wind, water, building movement, and extreme temperatures, makes it an obvious choice for commercial roofing.
WIND-RESISTANT: When properly installed, vinyl roofing systems can meet or exceed the requirements for ANSI/FM 4474 approvals and/or withstand high-wind weather events such as hurricanes. These roofs can be specifically designed for storm-prone areas.
WATERPROOF: For decades, PVC membranes have been a popular roofing material due to their inherent ability to resist water penetration even in extreme conditions such as standing water, perpetually moist conditions, temperature fluctuations, and exposure to airborne fungus spores and bacteria. Additionally, heat at the seams forms a permanent, watertight seal that is incredibly strong and does not require the use of additional adhesives.
AESTHETICS: While PVC membranes are typically white, it is possible to add pigments to the vinyl resin during production to achieve the desired color and texture.
LAYOUT: Even the most unusual roof layouts, shapes, and curves can be accommodated by PVC. PVC's ability to create tight, waterproof seams that will not succumb to moisture, heat, or building movement can accommodate even roofs with numerous penetrations.

From aging infrastructure to increased pressure on resources to the severity of natural disasters, cities and municipalities are confronting complexities that are as unique as the people who live there.

Brilliant Cities

We believe no one discipline has all the answers to urban challenges. Our unique contribution to the urban agenda is our whole-systems approach to better prioritize projects, plan ahead, protect vulnerable assets, and provide sustainable growth.

Improving Community Life with Innovation

We work in the communities we live in and design comprehensive, innovative, and cost-effective solutions that make those communities more livable and at the same time meet the needs and requirements of each client by optimising the municipality’s infrastructure.

Smart Cities

Smart technology and the IoT is fundamentally changing how we work, how organizations operate, and how we experience places. Smart Cities are evolvable places that integrate intelligent design, multiple data inputs and previously disparate systems and aggregate these into a cloud of useful information. When harnessed, this actionable intelligence allows smart owners and occupants to create more engaging and effective built environments.
